Building Department Fee Schedule

Residential Construction:

  • At Time of Submittal:
    • Application Fee: (ALL) $50
    • Annual License Registration: $25
    • Consultant Escrow (if applicable). See schedule.
    • Plan review fee in full, per schedule below
  • Building Plan Reviews:
    • New Construction and Additions:
      • Up to 8,000 s.f.: $500.00
      • 8,000-12,000 s.f.: $750.00
      • 12,001-20,000 s.f.: $1,000.00
      • Over 20,000 s.f.: $1,500.00
    • Alterations:
      • Minor (No structural or foundation alterations): $50/room
      • Major (With structural or foundation alterations): $75/room, $500 maximum.
    • Miscellaneous Reviews:
      • Accessory Structures: $100.00
      • In-ground pools, fences: $100.00
      • Revision fees (3rd review): $100.00
      • Revisions After Permit: $50.00
  • Trade Review Fees:
    • New Construction:
      • Up to 12,000 s.f.: $100.00
      • Over 12,000 s.f.: $150.00
    • Additions/Alterations:
      • Up to 12,000 s.f.: $100.00

Residential Building Permit Fees:

  • New Construction Permit Fee: $0.45/square foot (based on entire area of construction including basements, garages, porches and crawl spaces).
  • Addition/Alteration/Accessory Structures Permit Fee: $1.00/square foot
  • Demolition:
    • Interior Only: $150 (Minimum permit fee)
    • Structure: $250 (Two inspections: Open hole and final)
  • Pool permit fee:
    • Dry Laid Deck: $250 flat rate, two inspections
    • Poured Concrete Deck: $300 flat rate, three inspections
  • Fence Permit (For pool installations): $150 (One inspection)
  • Basement Waterproofing Permit: $150.00 (Two inspections)
  • Roofing, Window Replacement, Siding/Veneer Replacement:$150 (Two inspections)
  • Tennis Courts/Sports Courts: $250 (One Inspection)
  • Side yard Generator/Air Conditioner Permit: $150. (This is the only permit fee that includes the application fee, plan review fee and one final inspection after trade inspections of the work have been approved.)
  • Minimum Building Permit Fee: $150.00 (Excludes application fee and contractor registration.)

Miscellaneous Residential Fees:

  • Additional Inspections: $50.00
  • Reinspection Fee: $50.00
  • Extend building permit- 6 months: $150.00 (plus application fee)
  • Extend mechanical, plumbing or electrical permit: $75.00 (plus application fee)
    • Note: Extensions may be granted by the Building Official upon written application that clearly demonstrates a justifiable cause for the extension. Extensions MAY be granted for a period up to 180 days.
  • Investigative fee for Failure to Obtain Permit Before Starting Work: $175.00
  • Project Completion: Expiration of Permit
    A permit remains valid as long as work is progressing and inspections are requested and conducted. A permit shall become invalid if the authorized work is not commenced within 180 days after issuance of the permit or if the authorized work is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days after the time of commencing the work.
    A PERMIT WILL BE CLOSED WHEN NO INSPECTIONS ARE REQUESTED AND CONDUCTED WITHIN 180 DAYS OF THE DATE OF ISSUANCE OR THE DATE OF A PREVIOUS INSPECTION. CLOSED PERMITS CANNOT BE REFUNDED. IF NO INSPECTIONS HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED FOR THE WORK, THEN THE BOND SHALL BE FORFEITED FOR NON-PERFORMANCE AND A NEW APPLICATION FOR PERMIT MUST BE SUBMITTED. IF AT LEAST ONE INSPECTION HAS BEEN CONDUCTED, THEN THE CLOSED PERMIT MAY BE RE-OPENED ACCORDING TO THE FEE SCHEDULE BELOW.
  • Re-open an expired building permit: $150.00 (No application fee required)
  • Re-open all other expired permits: $75.00 (No application fee required)

(All fees listed are exclusive of application fees, contractor registration fees, building bonds and consultant review escrows.)

Commercial (All Non-Residential) Construction:

At Time of Submittal:

Commercial (Non-Residential) Plan Review Fees:

  • Building Plan Reviews:
    • New Construction: $0.10 per square foot
      • General Review Fee Information:
        • All fees are rounded up to the next $50.00
        • Minimum review fee is $500.00
    • Build Outs/Alterations:
      • Under 1000 s.f.: $150.00
      • 1000-3000 s.f.: $250.00
      • Over 3000 s.f.: $0.08/s.f.
  • Trade Review Fees:
    • New Construction or Additions/Alterations:
      • Up to 10,000 s.f.: $100.00 (each trade)
      • 10,001- 20,000 s.f.: $200.00 (each trade)
      • Over 20,000 s.f.: $300 (each trade)

Commercial (Non-Residential) Building Permit Fees:

  • Sign Permit:
    • Wall Sign: $75 (one inspection; electrical permit separate if required)
    • Ground Sign: $125 (two inspections; electrical permit separate if required)
    • Renewal of Existing Permit for Temp. Lease or Sale Sign: $50.00
  • New Construction Permit Fee: $0.70/square foot
  • Building Permit Fee for "Shell Only":
      • Up to 10,000 s.f.: $0.55/s.f.
      • 10,001 to 20,000 s.f.: $0.50/s.f
      • Over 20,000 s.f.: $0.45/s.f.
  • Building Permit Fee for Interior "Build Out" (from shell):
      • Up to 10,000 s.f.: $0.35/s.f.
      • 10,001 to 20,000 s.f.: $0.30/s.f
      • Over 20,000 s.f.: $0.25/s.f.
  • Building Permit Fee for Interior Renovations/Alterations:
      • Up to 10,000 s.f.: $0.70/s.f.
      • 10,001 to 20,000 s.f.: $0.65/s.f
      • Over 20,000 s.f.: $0.60/s.f.

Consultant Escrow: (by Commission resolution of May 15, 2007)
