The Finance and Treasury Department is responsible for
the accounting and reporting of financial activity in the City of Bloomfield
Hills, in accordance with the City Charter, State law and generally accepted
accounting principles (GAAP). We coordinate with the City’s external auditor to
produce the City’s financial statements. We prepare the City’s annual budget,
with the assistance from the City Manager and Department Directors. We are also
responsible for the production of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable
and coordinating benefits.
The Finance and Treasury Department is responsible for
the preparation of the City’s tax roll, as well as the invoicing, collection,
and settlement of ad valorem property taxes in the City. We also collect as a
pass-through agent for the Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills Public Schools,
Oakland Intermediate School District (ISD), Oakland Community College, State
Education fund, and Oakland County.
Property Taxes
Summer tax bills-due and payable July 1st - August
31st.
Winter tax bills-due and payable December 1st -
February 14th.
Late summer and winter bills accrue interest at the
rate of ¾ of 1% per month. This rate of interest was established as a part of
the City Charter and cannot be waived by City Employees. Payments made after
February 14th are also subject to a 3% penalty. Please call the Treasurer’s
office for the correct payoff amount.

City Hall operating hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday through
Friday, and we are located on Long Lake, East of Woodward.
The City also offers an after-hours drop box located
in the lobby of the Public Safety Department (24 hours). Please do NOT leave
cash or late payments in this box

with Visa, Discover, Mastercard, or by E-Check. Enter your Parcel I.D. number or
your Property address and enter your code number and tax type (summer or
winter). All of this information is found on your tax bill. Please note that you
will be charged an enhanced access fee for this service, the website provides a
detail of fees.

If you need to change the name and/or billing address
for a property tax bill, please provide this information to the Treasurer’s
office in writing. For your convenience, there is a notice of change form on the
back side of your tax bill.
If a mortgage company will be paying the property
taxes, that mortgage company must submit a written request to the Treasurer’s
office.
