Important Information Regarding Tax Collection
Signed into law by the Governor a year ago, the State of
Michigan Education tax will now be collected entirely with
the Summer tax bill. In the past, the State Education Tax
was divided into two parts with ½ (or 3 mills) collected in
the summer and the remaining ½ on the Winter tax bill.
Beginning with the Summer 2003 tax bill, the entire 6 mill
State Education Tax will be collected up front. Please
contact your mortgage holder to insure proper escrow
payments to cover this new legislation.
- Summer Taxes are sent out June 30, and are due
August 31
- Winter Taxes are sent out November 26, and are due
February 14
Annually, as of March 1, all unpaid taxes are turned over
to Patrick M. Dohany, Oakland County Treasurer. If you have
outstanding property tax obligations, please contact Oakland
County at (248) 858-0611.
A decorative drop box is conveniently located in the
lobby of the Public Safety building. The drop box is
accessible evenings and weekends, so please feel free to
drop off your tax payment, prior to the due date. Please be
sure to submit your tax payment in a timely manner, there
are no extensions allowed after the final noted due date.
