Hiring Public Safety Officer
Written Test on Tuesday February 7, 2012. The test will
be administered at 9:00am at a location in Bloomfield Hills
to be determined. Applications and information can be
obtained by
clicking here. Applications must be returned by mail
or dropped off at the station, correctly filled out by
printing legibly or typing, attach/include the required
documentation and a check made out to the City of Bloomfield
Hills for $50.00 by 2:00pm January 23, 2012.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Required documentation: Copy of birth certificate and
driver’s license.
- Acquire residency in the State of
Michigan, before July 1st, 2012.
- Be able to meet
physical fitness and vision standards set by MCOLES and
MFFTC.
- Have no criminal record and not more than 3
driving infractions.
Required documentation: Copy of your
driving record (obtainable through the Secretary of State)
and a copy of a criminal history check (available through
MSP website ICHAT).
- Applicants are required to be a
state of Michigan licensed police officer and a state of
Michigan certified fire fighter (levels 1 and 2)
Required
documentation: (Police) Copy of MLEOTC/MCOLES license …
(Fire) Copy of state fire certifications Or Currently
in a state of Michigan Police Academy and/or state of
Michigan Fire Academy (levels 1 and 2) with a confirmable
successful completion date no later than March 1, 2012. Required documentation: Copy(ies) of academy graduation
documents or name, address, phone number and Academy
Director of the Academy you’re currently attending to verify
status and graduation date.
- Education level minimum is
a completed Associates degree.
Required documentation:
Copy of awarded degree and contact information, including
phone number, where we can verify the authenticity.
Process:
- Written Exam (maximum of top 10 scores over
70 will advance to physical agility)
- Fire related
physical agility (Pass/Fail) Course details will be
provided.
- A pre-oral board back ground check (Maximum
of six will be invited for participation in the oral board)
- Oral Board
- The determination of Ranking is
compiled. The Director will then make a conditional offer of
employment to one of the successful candidates but reserves
the right to withhold offering any of the candidates an
offer of employment.
A successfully selected candidate
will be given a tentative offer of employment pending the
successful completion of:
- A detailed background check
- A physical and health examination to MCOLES and MFFTC
requirements
- Drug Screen
- Psychological
examination
- The Bloomfield Hills Public Safety
Department’s Field Training Officer Program
A candidate
successfully completing 1-5 above will then be placed on
probation until their first anniversary hire date and upon
successful completion of probation will then become a career
officer of the Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Department.
Until a candidate/probationary officer attains the status of
a career officer, termination of employment will be at the
discretion of the Employer.
